Events and Communications Internship Position available at AFSA

The Aluminium Federation (AFSA) has an Internship Position available for an Events and Communications Intern. The prospective candidate will learn to assess and conceptualise AFSA’s needs for a variety of meetings, conferences, and events, and make all arrangements necessary to achieve the desired outcomes. CALL FOR COMMENT- Export Tax on Scrap Metals

National Treasury has published the Draft Taxation Laws Amendment Bill, 2020 (TLAB), the Draft Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill, 2020 (TALAB) as well as the Draft Regulations Prescribing Electronic Services.

The draft 2020 Taxation Laws include the proposed introduction of an export tax on scrap metals (i.e. ferrous metals, aluminium, red metals and other waste and scrap metals) at the rates as was announced in the 2020 Budget to replace the current price preference system.

AFSA will be submitting comments as mandated by the Members previously, however should members wish to make further inputs in this regard, submissions should be submitted to afsa@afsa.org.za by close of business on the 21 August 2020 to afford us time to incorporate such inputs into the submission.

A FOND FAREWELL TO RENTIA MALAN

This announcement serves to inform Aluminium Federation of South Africa Members, Sponsors and Stakeholders of Rentia Malan, AFSA’s Administration and Information Manager’s resignation and departure from the Federation and her last day will be 30 April 2020. Rentia tendered her resignation early in March, and she has been serving her notice for the past two months.
